Adopt a Domestic Short Hair

Madison is a spayed female about 3 years old. She is in a foster home because she was not doing well in the shelter environment. Her foster family has 2 dogs and 2 cats and teenage children. Madison loves her foster's male cat and they play and groom each other and hang out together, but she and her foster's female cat don't like each other. They don't fight terribly, but they clearly aren't buddies. We're not sure if that's Madison's fault or the female cat's fault. Or if they both like the male cat and each of them try to get his attention. She intimidates her foster's two large dogs and doesn't seem to like them, so she probably shouldn't go to a home with dogs. Madison can be extremely friendly, she loves to be petted, will curl up on your lap or in your bed and purrs a lot. But she does not like to be picked up, so for that reason we wouldn't recommend her for a family with young children. She also can be a bit quirky in that if she doesn't want to be petted and you continue to pet her, she'll tell you by swatting at you. Because of her past, she will probably take a while to get used to a new setting, but as her foster family has found, if you're patient with her, Madison can be a great companion. We would love to find a forever home for Madison, but know she has a few quirky traits so we want to make sure her forever home is a good match. We are sure if her forever family is patient with her and gives her the time she needs to trust them, she will be a wonderful cat.
